Welcome!

Greetings! I’ll lay it on the line from the top; this is a movie blog, yes, but this is not going to be about the movies that you are probably familiar with. We all know the Norris movies, the Stallone movies, the Schwarzenegger movies, the Bronson movies, the Van Damme movies, the Seagal movies, and the Reynolds movies. Chances are you have a great love for their collective body of work already or you wouldn’t have been tempted by a blog with such a bombastic title! I’ll be addressing those iconic figures as necessary but it won’t be my focus. So what’s this all about, then? Perhaps you’re looking for something more? You might be seeking something new and/or different? You’ve come to the right place! As excellent as many of the films those great above-mentioned stars have been a part of inarguably are, my purpose here is to highlight the screaming, testosterone fueled, explosive world of Reb Brown, Daniel Bernhardt, Cynthia Rothrock, Frank Zagarino, Matthias Hues, Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, and many more. All stars in their own right but often overlooked by the masses simply because the films they were featured in had very limited theatrical runs or went straight to the bottom row of your local video store when they first came out. Truth is, some stores didn’t even bother to grab a lot of the titles that featured these unheralded heroes because they figured, however incorrectly, there just wasn’t any money in it. It’s time they and their contemporaries were given their due! That’s where I come in…. Over time, I’ll be presenting you enough classic heroics to fill a dozen gunboats! You like your action straight? Gotcha covered! Like some martial arts or science fiction mixed in? Yep, I’ll be covering that to! If it represents action in any of its incarnations, chances are you’ll find a sampling of it here sooner or later!
I’m already a lifelong fan of the action movie and its many sub-genres. You might know some of these films already! Perhaps you have friends who have talked about them or maybe you happened across an online review. If so, there’s a better than average chance you’ve encountered words or phrases like ‘B-Movie’, an attempt to define by way of budget alone. Sadly, through the years, that has become synonymous with a lack of quality. Have you heard ‘trash cinema’, or maybe‘craptastic’? Many times films like the ones discussed here will often simply be referred to as ‘cheese’. You won’t see any of those words in any of these reviews unless I'm attempting to be disparaging. I’ve never understood the so-bad-it’s-good phenomenon. If something is bad, how can it be good? Because you laugh at it? That doesn’t make it good, that just makes it laughable… And that’s bad. Is it because that laughter indicates enjoyment on some unintended level? Okay, I can process that, but in the end isn’t it still just bad? Here’s my point, I don’t think these movies are bad at all! Quite the opposite, I happen to think they are immensely entertaining! Yeah, there’s going to be some failures and shocking clunkers, but as a whole I would rather watch Cynthia Rothrock kick over the back of her head or Reb Brown do his now famous screaming bullet scatter than most of the hundred million dollar cartoons that are supposed to pass as entertainment nowadays! So, approach this blog with the knowledge that all of the reviews come from a place of honest affection, none are written in the spirit of smarmy irony or holier-than-thou cynicism. This is coming to you from a fellow fan, from someone who understands your needs and is only interested in sharing the joy and sending you down a path of authentic non-computerized pyrotechnical excitement towards, hopefully, smiley-faced satisfaction! I imagine this endeavor as a celebration of the fantastic entertainment that might have passed fans by on the first pass, a way to help illustrate the options you have available to you that you might not have even known existed! I will be exploring releases on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, and Blu-Ray! The format employed will be listed with each review but that doesn’t mean that’s the only way it’s available!
That about does it! Swallow that whiskey! Pull that bootstrap tight! Secure that knife in your teeth! It’s time to jump out of that tree, cross that fiery bridge, dodge that machine-gunner, lob that grenade, and dive head first (in slow motion of course) into the Blood and Fire with Furious Rage!

It is my sincerest wish that you enjoy the journey!

~Michael
